How’d you get involved with Year Long Disaster?

I met Rich and Daniel while playing with my friend Soren at a little club in LA.  They really have a sound that appeals to me and it turned out that they were parting with their drummer at the time.  We started jamming and it felt very natural.

Were you a fan of The Kinks before joining up?

I had listened to them casually but would not call myself a big fan. 

With YLD being more on the “hard” side of the rock spectrum, do you approach songwriting with them under a different mindset than your contributions to 3eb? Or does it all just sort of come out naturally without any conscious decisions?

In all my bands and musical collaborations I attempt to exert a musical influence that both respects and lifts what is already happening. I feel like I am good at hearing "a sound" for a band and influencing it in that direction through my plaing. With both 3EB and YLD, I saw a way to enhance the sound that was already happening and move it in a direction based on my influences and what I wanted to hear.
